Photographer Angham’s visual relationship with her surroundings began at an early age when she, as a child, spent so much time observing animals and pets. Back then, her dream was to travel one day to Africa in order to photograph the wildlife there, but above all she dreamt of owning a camera that would enable her to capture the movement of the animals she adores. Angham who was born in 1988 in Sana’a and studied graphics design, used a camera for the first time in 2008 during working in Best Photo (Ahla Sourah) women only studio where she worked for 3 years. Her passion for captioning unique moments has evolved throughout the years where Angham grew fond of the expressions the tiny faces of children make. The little angels became the inspiration of her career in photography as she dedicates her time to photographing children without making them notice the camera. The result has always been exceptional when she documents such spontaneous moments making her photos tell stories so naturally and effortlessly.
Experinece
Training
The fact that Angham received professional training in photography by German, Dutch and Italian photographers in addition to working for the Social Fund as a graphic designer and photographer made her root her feet in the world of photography in Yemen. She continues to tell stories through captioning simple daily details of life in Yemen especially those of women and children. Angham believes that such simple details documented in the pictures she takes can help the voice of her country be heard around the world. Her success in this type of storytelling was honored by her receiving the UN Yemen award for her photograph on women at work in Yemen. Recently, four of Angham’s pictures were selected to be exhibited in Casoria Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) in Naples, Italy. Her pictures were also displayed in some of the national papers in Italy. She participated in a training course for photojournalism in Beirut - Lebanon and made exhibition on the training course with a group of colleagues.
